Kindergarden to College

Proverbs 22:6
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

If you have children, even if you don’t, you understand the importance of education. Education can change the entire course of a child’s life.

I grew up in a poor family, but one thing my parents insisted on was that their children would receive an education. I remember my mother taking us to the library every week and allowing each of us to check out seven books, one for every day of the week. Most were around 160 pages long, and she made sure we finished them.

From an early age, I learned the value of education.

Unfortunately, not everyone in one of the poorest areas of the Philippines sees education the same way.

Several years ago, two college students were working on their thesis and asked if they could interview some of the children in our ministry. I sent a staff member with them to ensure everything was appropriate.

When they returned, they said, “I don’t believe it.”

I asked, “What do you mean?”

They explained, “We’ve conducted many interviews in this area, and the most common dream job among the children was to work on a garbage truck. But your children want to become doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, and skilled tradesmen.”

When children are taught, encouraged, and given hope, they begin to believe they can achieve great things.

During the COVID pandemic, many children were unable to attend school. We stepped in and provided supplemental education and tutoring. We learned what subjects they were studying and helped prepare them in advance so they could succeed when classes resumed.

We also created an incentive program to encourage academic excellence.

Students earning grades of 80 or above receive ₱100.
Students earning grades of 85 or above receive a Jollibee meal.
Students earning grades of 90 or above receive a Kenny Rogers meal and ₱1,000.

For more than 20 years, we have encouraged children through education, tutoring, mentoring, and academic rewards. As a result, many of our students have excelled in school and gone on to pursue higher education.

By helping educate a child today, you can help break the cycle of poverty tomorrow.

Your donation helps provide tutoring, school supplies, educational materials, academic incentives, and opportunities that many of these children would otherwise never have.

And many more are on their way.

What does 8 0ut of ten of these students have in common?

Believe it or not they all learned to play instruments because of this mission.

I heard that students that were involved with music had a 50% better chance of finishing college. So we started a music program. Actually God told me to start the program. I told God, I don’t play, I can’t sing and I can only read a little bit of notes. He told me I would do fine.

Actually I designated a woman in the Church who played the guitar and piano and she started teaching. Then I sent my daughters to a music teacher where they learned the violin and they started our mentoring program. Before you know it we had students playing the recorder, flute, ukulele, guitar, keyboard, violins and even harmonica, Accordion and beat box.

And 10 out of 10 Love the Lord!
